Ovruch is one of the most ancient cities of the East Europe. In annals 977 years the town is mentioned as
«Vruchiy». In the 10th century Ovruch was a strategic important fortress - the center of the Drevlianie tribe land. At the beginning of the 14th century the town became a well-known economic center and was a part of Galytchyna-Volyn princedom.
There is one of the most unique deposits in Europe in 12 km. from ancient Ovruch. A new company specializing in the processing and enrichment of a wonderful mineral - quartzite was founded here in 1936. Nowadays this company is called JSC OVRUCH ORE MINING AND PROCESSING ENTERPRISE «Quartzite» - the basic supplier of quartzite products and macadam for the refractory, ferroalloy, metallurgical and building industry in Ukraine, the CIS countries and the Eastern Europe.
